Kymenlaakson Kylät
Kymenlaakson Kylät ry has been operating since 1998 as the regional organisation for the villages of Kymenlaakso. The association has around 130 members, including private individuals, associations, and municipalities, of which about 70 are local village associations. Kymenlaakson Kylät ry is one of Finland’s 19 regional village networks. The association is part of a wider village network whose umbrella organisation, Suomen Kylät ry, represents approximately 4,000 villages in Finland.
The purpose of the association’s activities is to act within the region as the advocate and developer of the shared interests of villages and village/resident activities. We implement and participate in projects that are of essential importance for the villages, for living and wellbeing in them, and for their development.
The association employs one permanent staff member, and in addition, the staffing situation and operational priorities vary depending on the resources of ongoing projects. The activities of the association are directed by a board consisting of trusted representatives from different parts of Kymenlaakso, all working on a voluntary basis.
